Cougars Community Rink event this weekend

The community has a chance to skate alongside their favourite Prince George Cougars players this weekend.

The club is hosting it’s annual Community Rink event with most of the team being in attendance. Families are encouraged to bring skates, sticks, and pucks to the outdoor rink by College Heights Secondary School.

“These guys on our team, even though they’re these big hulking monsters, they’re also young teenagers in some cases. It’s really nice for our fans to hang out with the players and realize they are ultimately just kids. They really need the community’s support and our players want to give the community a lot of support too,” said Andy Beesley, Vice President of Business with the Cougars.

“Everything that [the players] do is so scheduled, formal, and high-pressure, this is an opportunity for them to let down their hair so to speak and just hang out. Most of these kids grew up on outdoor ponds and lakes and it’s a chance for them to relax and enjoy themselves.”

The free event runs from 1 pm to 3 pm Sunday.
