Northern FanCon receives financial support from Province

The Province is supporting events that raise awareness of British Columbia’s tourism experience including one in Prince George.

Northern FanCon will benefit from $17,150 from the Tourism Events Program. The event runs from May 3rd to 5th at the CN Centre. It is one of the 15 latest approved applicants, receiving a total of $752,150.

Applications for Tourism Events Program funding are accepted twice yearly. The next available opportunity to apply opens March 1st and is for events taking place between November 1st, 2019, and October 31st, 2020. These events generate tourism and economic activities in communities throughout BC.

In 2018, 45 events and festivals in BC communities were supported through the program. A total of $2.3-million was provided for those applicants.

Tourism is the third biggest employer in the province with over 133,000 people working in the industry. It generated more than $17-billion in revenue in 2016.
