Free Family Day event at the Exploration Place

By Ethan Ready, MyPGNow.com

The Exploration Place is opening up their doors for free to visitors for some Family Day activities.

Highlighting the event is Tech-Up, the Exploration Place and Science World’s initiative to support local teachers and students to develop coding and computational thinking skills.

Community Engagement Manager, Amanda Smedley says, “the focus of this digital literacy and computational thinking is because as we move forward in the 21st century we’re seeing so many more jobs that require these kinds of skills.”

Smedley adds that the hope is to provide teachers with hands-on training so they can implement these skills into their classroom curriculum.

The activities and free admission have been made possible thanks to the support from Science World BC, the Government of Canada’s CanCode program, and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

The free event will be running from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday, February 18.
