It was a 10-day period where Prince George was on the world stage.
The northern capital wrapped up the 2019 World Para-Nordic Skiing Championships with the closing ceremonies last night from the PG Conference and Civic Centre.
In an interview with My PG Now, Organizer, Kevin Pettersen believes our city was well received by everyone who attended.
“We’ve been getting such positive comments from the different nations about the facilities we have, the community we have based on the energy and spirit of the volunteers. It’s just absolutely delightful to hear that.”
In his own words, Pettersen is of the opinion the volunteers felt the same energy for this event as they did for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
“We’ve seen it at the Canada Winter Games and we thought what is the next big thing in terms of an event and then we saw it here as well. The volunteers just loved this atmosphere and we are talking again about what is the next big thing.”

Collin Cameron was the flag bearer for Canada at the closing ceremonies who finished with a gold and two silver medals
He believes his performance at the games, bodes well for him in future competitions.
“It’s a good step in my sporting career going forward, looking at the next Paralympics in Beijing, it’s really exciting and it gets me pumped for next season for sure.”
Mark Arendz of PEI finished the games with six medals for Canada.
Cameron is still in awe over his fellow countrymen.
“It wasn’t bad for him. I think he meddled in every day of the competition so I think he’ll be content with that and it’s pretty awesome to see him up there with the Japanese skier as well so that was great to see.”
