With the new year comes that renewal for some people to want to get more healthy.
YMCA of Northern BC Fitness Coordinator Shannon Johnson says the best thing people can do is get busy and be active.
“Whether you are at home or at work,” says Johnson, “just find situations like climbing the stairs at your workplace or parking a little ways farther from where you work to do some walking, getting outside and playing with your family and taking advantage of the parks.”
Johnson says the snow adds resistance and intensity to walking or jogging, which can yield great benefits.
She recommends setting small, short term goals that you can put into your daily life.
