Campbell’s and Save on Foods team up to restock PG food bank shelves

Campbell’s Help Hunger Disappear Food Drive is kicking off this week at all Prince George Save on Foods.

From now until April 3, people are encouraged to purchase items listed on the food banks shopping list.

Bill Glasgow, Donor Relations and Fund Raising Coordinator with the Salvation Army, said they usually see a drop off in donations after Christmas.

“Around January, February, and March there is not as much incoming so its really a good time to have a food drive because we are starting to see some empty shelves and a need to see those filled again.”

Volunteers will be at all Save on Foods this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. hanging out bags with lists attached.

The Prince George food bank serves 2,000 people every month with 45 per cent of those under the age of 16.

“If you have ever gone hungry you can’t think when you are in school. You’re not able to make a good decision in your life, so sometimes having a meal can help someone with a step in the right direction.”
