Prince George Special Olympian Linda Renner is still on cloud nine after her three-medal performance at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi last month.
The 56-year-old captured gold medals in the women’s singles 10-pin bowling event as well as the doubles competition.
Renner also collected a silver medal in the team event at the games.
My PG Now asked if her previous international experience at the 2015 Special Olympic Summer Games gave her an edge.
“That helped a lot because the first time I went to Los Angeles I got one coming back and I wanted to do it again and see if I could get more medals going home and this one paid off in a big way.”
It’s pretty safe to say the trek to Abu Dhabi was as good as gold for Renner as all of her medals came in the one sport she specializes in and it was a top-notch experience.
“The country is very interesting to say the least but we got to visit lots of sights and go to meet a lot of different people from around the world.”
As for her favorite part about the trip, Renner said that was an easy question to answer.
“I would say riding a camel and going on a desert safari, that was really enjoyable.”
Renner is hoping to compete at the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Germany so that she can experience being in the same country where her mom is from.
In total, Canada won 155 medals including 90 gold.
Over 7,500 athletes from 192 countries competed in 24 different sports.
