BCHL

The Prince George Spruce Kings will host the Vernon Vipers in the first two games of the Fred Page Cup championship series on Friday and Saturday.

The Coastal Conference champion Spruce Kings have won nine straight and are riding a 15-game home winning streak that dates back to mid-December.

WHL:

The WHL playoffs resume with a trio of games tonight

Prince Albert @ Saskatoon, Edmonton @ Calgary, and Vancouver @ Victoria

Vancouver, Prince Albert, and Edmonton all lead their best-of-seven Conference semifinals 2-0. Three of the four series resume Tuesday.

NHL:

The Stanley Cup playoffs will open with five games on Wednesday to start the Conference Quarterfinals.

Winnipeg will host St. Louis, Dallas is at Nashville and Vegas visits San Jose in the West.

Pittsburgh plays at NY Islanders and Tampa entertains Columbus in the West.

The other three first-round series will begin Thursday: Colorado at Calgary, Toronto at Boston and Carolina at Washington.

SWIMMING:

Former Prince George Barracudas swimmer Josiah Binnema won gold in the 100-meter fly at the Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto.

Haley Black of P.G. earned silver in the 50-meter fly and also finished 4th in the 100 fly.

Ex-Prince George Barracuda Danica Ludlow took bronze in the 400 free.

Binnema has been named to the FINA World Championship Team heading to Gwangju, Korea July 21-28.

Black and Ludlow will be heading to Lima, Peru for the 2019 Pan American Games August 4-10.

Binnema and Black are currently training at the High-Performance Centre in Vancouver.

Ludlow is attending the University of Calgary.

The 3-8 Toronto Blue Jays play a two-game series in Boston on today (11:00 AM PT) and Thursday (4:00 PM PT).

NBA:

The (57-24) Toronto Raptors conclude their regular season at Minnesota against the Timberwolves tonight.

The Raptors will finish second in the NBA Eastern Conference (behind the Milwaukee Bucks) and will face the 7th seeded team in the opening round of the playoffs.

Prince George Fire Rescue Chief Fire Bryan Burleigh says an insurance adjuster has been assigned in the fire that destroyed the Nechako Bottle Depot Sunday, and an investigation will commence this week. Fire crews were called to the depot just before 5:00 Sunday morning, and spent much of the day battling the blaze before calling it extinguished in the evening.
