It begins today.
If you’re not on board with the City of Prince George’s proposed $32.2 million dollar loan, presented by council in February, you can now pick up the means to voice that from City Hall.
The loan is open to public opinion through the Alternative Approval Process (AAP), which requires that 11 pages of a 25-page document, called Electoral Response Forms (ERF), be filled out and returned by 10% of the registered voters in the city, which is currently 55, 455.
The City’s plan for the loan includes 11 projects, each with their own Bylaw. As a result, citizens looking to defeat this initiative will be required to submit 11 ERF’s to counter them.
Important information on ERF’s:
- Each form must be hand signed; electronic signatures will not be accepted
- Eligible voters must be at least 18 years old and residing in Prince George
- Multiple forms per address are accepted
- ERF’s submitted prior to April 18 will not be accepted
Phil Beaulieu, the founder of a Facebook group called Enough Already! City of PG AAP., which has been vocally against the loan since it was put on the table, said his group is offering to print, distribute, and return forms for ease of access to anyone who needs it.
The City will be accepting the ERFs from now until May 30th.
