Pop-up American Consulate sees residents inquire about services

The United States Consulate in Vancouver made another stop in Prince George and hosted a pop-up consulate for American Citizen Services.

It was hosted at the Prince George Public Library on Thursday.

Vice-Consul, Tiffany Lang told My PG Now they had another strong turnout with over 20 people making the trek.

“Everybody came in from notary to passport applications, to passport renewals, certificates of births abroad so that they can register their kids who were born in Canada but want to claim their citizenship.”

She adds it’s important for people to know they don’t have to make a choice when it comes to their passport.

“There are a lot of dual citizens and I think what many people don’t realize is that you can be dual citizens and you don’t need to give up your American passport to be Canadian or vice-versa, we’ve had a few questions about that.”

Lang is unsure of when the next pop-up consulate will be in Prince George but for those who were unable to attend and want to know more can email [email protected]
