Frustrations boil over as Bandits blank Spruce Kings

The Prince George Spruce Kings were anything but disciplined during Game 3 of the Doyle Cup.

The Fred Page Cup Champions came unglued on Sunday dropping a 4-0 decision at the hands of the Brooks Bandits giving the National Junior A Championship hosts a 2-1 series lead.

Brooks went 2-for-6 on the man advantage including a late power-play goal in the first period from Ray Christy followed by another in the third period from Tyler Campbell who scored his second goal of the series beating Prince George netminder Logan Neaton.

Jakob Lee also notched a pair of goals in the victory for the Bandits.

The Spruce Kings took a combined five misconducts and a bench penalty over the course of the game where players like Ben Poisson, Ben Brar, Corey Cunningham, Spencer DenBeste and Dustin Manz all spent time in the penalty box for this reason.

Prince George was also without the services of two top-six defenceman Jay Keranen and Liam Watson-Brawn.
Brooks outshot the Spruce Kings 31-21 overall.

The series now shifts to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena for Games Four and Five Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm followed by Game Six and Seven Saturday and Sunday if needed.

Both teams have earned automatic berths to the National Junior A Championship, which takes place May 11-19 in Brooks, Alberta.
