Vehicle seized in investigation following fatal hit and run in Prince George

Their plea to the public did not fall on deaf ears.

Yesterday morning (Saturday), Prince George RCMP released a statement asking for public’s help in locating a vehicle involved in a hit and run that took a man’s life.

Just after midnight, an officer from the Prince George RCMP had been on patrol on Victoria Street between 15th and 17th Avenue when he came across what appeared to be collision scene.

The officer located two adult males suffering from injuries and a severely damaged electric-powered wheelchair and bicycle.  The two men were transported to hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe that the adult male in the wheelchair and the adult male on the bike were struck by a north bound vehicle that did not stop.

The 48 year old occupant of the wheelchair, has since passed away as a result of injuries sustained.  The 56 year old bicycle rider is recovering from injuries and expected to survive.

According to the RCMP, they were able to seize a vehicle within a few hours of the release going public. Both a forensic and a mechanical examination will be conducted on the vehicle.
