Prince George RCMP have concluded their investigation into the deaths of 19 year old Craig Wood and 17 year old Kendall Moore that occurred last May.
On Sunday May 18th, 2014, Prince George RCMP began an investigation into the deaths of two Prince George youths at an outdoor party. The deaths occurred when the vehicle they were in entered Kwitzil Lake, more commonly known as Gravel Pit Lake, just off Highway 16 approximately 42 kilometres West of Prince George, BC.
An extensive investigation by RCMP involving forensic evidence, interviews and autopsies has concluded that the actions of the male driver led to his own death and the death of the female passenger. The investigation has been closed as a homicide and suicide.
RCMP say the outpouring of rumours and speculation on social media in the days following the incident hampered the investigation and that it took extensive police work to filter through the information and seperate fact from fiction.
“This is a tragic result to an entirely preventable situation” states Sgt. Todd Wilson of the Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Section. “We believe substance abuse was a direct factor in these deaths.”
Police would like to thank everyone that came forward with information as well and those that attempted to help Kendall and Craig at the time of the incident.
Prince George RCMP say no further information will be released.
