There have been four incidents in five days of thieves breaking into houses through unlocked or open windows.
According to the Prince George RCMP, the first incident occurred last Friday afternoon at a residence on the 2900 block of 20th Avenue. The thief (or thieves) gained access through a second-floor window and stole jewelry from the home.
The next day, officers were called to a residence on the 1400 block of 20th Avenue after thieves entered through an open ground level window and a 32″ television was stolen.
The third incident happened the following day when RCMP received a report of a residential break & enter on the 1800 block of 11th Avenue.  Entry was gained through an open window sometime earlier that evening and jewelry was stolen.
The fourth call, on the 1800 block of Tamarack Street last Tuesday, entry was, again, gained through an unlocked window. Various items were stolen including a laptop, 32″ television, portable DVD player and frozen food.
“These incidences are 100% the fault of the persons carrying out these break and enters. They’re the ones that are causing homeowners to be victims,” said Corporal Craig Douglass.
“But as homeowners and property owners, we need to take precautions to make sure that our property is secured. Take photographs and record serial numbers of your property so that it can be identified if it is stolen and we recover it.”
