CUPE 4991 outside workers within School District 57 reach tentative deal

The union representing K-12 maintenance and grounds workers within School District 57 reached a tentative agreement.

CUPE 4991 President Shayne Jameson told MYPGNOW.com it was nice to get the deal done before the end of the school year.

“There was a little bit of urgency to it as nobody ever likes to go without a contract.”

Once ratified, the new deal will take effect on July 1st and expire in 2022.

The current deal expires on June 30th.

The union represents 59 members in Prince George.

An agreement was reached on Friday and will go to the ratification process on Tuesday.

The union members provide services such as grounds, maintenance, trades, electricians and repairmen.
