PG residents came out to celebrate Canada Day

The Canada Day celebration at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park incorporated many different cultures.

Megan Stillwell, Assistant Festival Coordinator, said all the different cultures showcase what kind of country Canada is.

“It’s important to celebrate Canada as a welcoming country and as a mosaic of the different communities who live here,” she said.

The festival features a variety of cultural performances and foods.

One of the most popular booths was the turban wrapping station set up by members of the local Sikhi community.

One of the members Hardeep Singh Malhi said it’s cool to see everyone getting involved and trying out their booth.

“A lot of us are from Canada, and there are some of us who aren’t. It’s a way of showing who we are, and if people have questions they can ask,” said Malhi.

He added the day is about everyone sharing and having fun.
