Fire causes $50,000 in damage

Prince George Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on the 1200 block of 20th Ave.

The fire was reported at three in the afternoon.

Dan Pears, Assistant Fire Chief, said the fire was contained to the kitchen area.

“Arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the eves of the structure.”

A total of 16 firefighters responded to the call with the fire causing approximately $50,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but Pears said it was reported that squatters may have been living in the house.
