Two new city council committees will focus on education.
At last night’s meeting, council approved creating a select committee on student needs and and another select committee on education.
Mayor Lyn Hall, who made these a campaign promise, says the mandate of the committee is to find ways to partner with UNBC, CNC and School District 57.
“So its more of a business approach, its a community approach, its a partnership approach in working with them,” says Hall, “so the mandate is so broad based but it could be in promoting certainly the two post secondary institutions.”
Hall says the student needs committee will look at more specific areas of helping pupils.
The committees of ten will see Councillor Albert Koehler charing the Education one and Jillian Merrick handling the students needs group.
