From the blue bin to some green, PG Relay For Life receives $3,500

It’s been a partnership now for three years.

According to Aimee Cassie, a coordinator for the Prince George Relay For Life, a $3,500 donation from the PG Recycling and Return-It Centre pushed them over the $10,000 mark since the partnership was first established.

“We are so grateful for the support Relay receives from all around Prince George and beyond. Sponsors go above and beyond each year, and this year was no different,” said Cassie.

She informed MyPGNow that while the recycling bins are located around town year-round, the contents collected from the bins are donated in support of the Relay for Life. Bins are also on location for the 24-hour event as well.

“We’re always striving for more,” Cassie said of fundraising goals moving forward. “Obviously, in the fundraising world, we’re really aimed at improving the lives of people facing cancer, so we’re hopeful that we have the same support next year. Prince George Relay for Life has such great support from our participants, our donors, and our volunteers.”

The money raised goes towards support efforts put on my the Canadian Cancer Society, notably Kordyban Lodge here in Prince George.
