Prince George Inner City fighter Kenny Lally will be part of the Canadian boxing team that will compete at the Pan Am Games August 7th to 15th in Toronto. Lally, a six-time National Champion, is entered in the 56 kilos division.
–The UNBC men’s basketball team has recruited grade 12 stand-out Anthony Hokanson for the 2015-16 season. Hokanson, who is attending Kitsilano, has three years of BC Provincial Team basketball under his belt at the under-14, under-15 and under-16 level.
–The UNBC Timberwolves play home games in Canada West basketball against the MacEwan Griffins Friday at 6 and 8pm and Saturday at 5 and 7pm. The UNBC men are 7-7, holding down the third and final playoff spot in the Explorer Division, one game ahead of 6-8 Mount Royal and two games in front of 5-9 MacEwan. The Lady Timberwolves are 2-12. The MacEwan women are 10-4.
–Duchess Park will host College Heights in the Girls Prince George High School Basketball City League final on Tuesday, February 10th. Both teams won their semi-final handily as Duchess whipped Kelly Road 105-16 and College Heights outscored Cedars Christian 64-44.
–The top two seeds, Duchess Park and PGSSS, will meet in the Boys Prince George High School Basketball City League final on February 10th at Duchess. In the semis: Duchess Park beat DP Todd 61-41 and PGSS got by Kelly Road 96-82.
–The Prince George Cougars will try to get their first win since January 6th when they host Seattle Friday and Saturday. The Cougars beat the Thunderbirds 3-1 in their previous meeting Oct 17th in Seattle. The Thunderbirds are coming off a 4-3 Wednesday loss in Kamloops.
–The (22-19-0-4) Prince George Spruce Kings, winners of their last three, play tonight in Langley Friday in Chilliwack and Saturday in Surrey. The Spruce Kings are 3rd in the BCHL Mainland Division, seven points behind Langley, eight back of Chilliwack and seven ahead of 4th place Coquitlam.
–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars host Jameson Jones Night when they play the Kootenay Ice Saturday at 7:15pm at Kin 1 in the first of a doubleheader. The Cougars will be taking donations upon entrance with proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital in Jameson’s name. The two teams also meet Sunday at 8:30am.
