Fire from pot of cooking oil puts three in hospital for smoke inhalation

An accidental structure fire this afternoon (Wednesday) resulted in three people being taken to hospital to be checked for minor smoke inhalation.

According to the Prince George Fire Department, at around 5:15, 15 firefighters from three halls responded to a report of a fire on the 4400 block of Bauch Avenue.

When crews arrived all occupants of the two suites were out of the building and there was light smoke showing from the basement suite which had started from a pot of cooking oil on the stove.

Most of the fire damage was contained to the kitchen area of the basement suite. Crews remained on scene until all hot spots from the fire were extinguished and the air quality was back to normal. Fire damage to the residence is estimated at $50,000.00.
