For some B.C. residents, the results of the federal election raised concerns over political representation in Western Canada.
The resulting “Wexit” separatist movement reflects those concerns, as some feel Central Canada has disproportionate voting power.
“It’s about separation and BC values… I want my vote to count once in my lifetime, and I want it to change the future for my children and grandchildren,” explained spokesperson Dorthy Smith at today’s (Saturday) Wexit demonstration.
In an interview with MyPGNow.com, Smith outlined the group’s objective, explaining their desire “to become a provincial party and to win at the provincial level, then move into the federal, and win at the federal level so that we can exit.”
The rally started this morning at 10:00 at the intersection between Highways 16 and 97.
