Thirteen team field set for World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George

The anticipation continues to build for the World Women’s Curling Championship taking place March 14 to 22 from the CN Centre in Prince George.

During a media event today (Tuesday), the 13-team field was announced where participating countries will include:

  • Canada
  • United States
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • Russia
  • Japan
  • Scotland
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • South Korea
  • Italy
  • China

CN Centre Manager, Glen Mikkelsen told MyPGNow.com holding an event of this calibre is a major plus.

“This is a significant deal for Northern British Columbia, we hosted the Para-Nordic last year and is the second international sporting event in Prince George.”

All volunteer positions have been filled according to Mikkelsen.

He adds people are coming from all over the country to be part of this event.

“I’m surprised to learn that people from all over the country are coming, we have people from Ontario, across Alberta and throughout British Columbia making plans to join us to put on this global event in March.”

A variety of single draw tickets options are available for as low as $17.50.

For those wanting to catch more of the action, a variety of ticket packages are available for as low as $45.

Tickets are available at curling.ca/tickets, in person at the CN Centre Box Office, or by calling 1-888-293-6613.

Fans will get the chance to meet these athletes from all over the world during the biggest curling party in the province at the World Famous Patch, at Kin 1.

The entertainment lineup was also announced.

The Dungarees Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14 Hailing from Alberta, The Dungarees kick off the celebrations, on Friday, March 13th. The Dungarees have played at marquee country music festivals across Canada, including the Calgary Stampede, Big Valley Jamboree, and more. They were nominated as “Group of the Year” at the 2016 Alberta Country Music Awards, and will be bringing their good-time country music to Prince George! 

Cod Gone Wild Tuesday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day It promises to be more than a wee bit o’ fun on St. Patrick’s Day, as Cod Gone Wild brings their Celtic infused good-time music to The Patch! These artists have toured the globe, and we are lucky to have them turn The Patch into the biggest St. Patrick’s Party in Northern BC! 

Chris Goodwin Trio Wednesday, March 18 Blending country, folk, pop, and rock songs into their captivating setlists, the Chris Goodwin Trio is sure to play songs to sing along to and to introduce you to some lesser-known favourites. 

Chris Goodwin Band Thursday, March 19 Tonight, Chris Goodwin brings his full band, to get The Patch up and dancing to a fun mix of country, folk, pop, and rock songs! 

The Chevelles Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21 The Chevelles are known as The Patch’s House Band – and they have brought their Rock ‘n Roll Dance Music to Patches across the country! From Lethbridge, Alberta, and with a monstrous song list, The Chevelles put forth the best show possible night after night after night. If you have not seen this “Inspiring Rock ‘n’ Roll Party Tribute “, come to The Patch, and have fun like everyone else!
