First weekend of Climb for Cancer underway

The fifth annual Prince George Climb for Cancer started today with a schedule that keeps the event COVID safe.

As of today (Saturday) the event has raised $8,000 of the $35,000 goal, the funds will go directly to the Kordyban Lodge.

Aimee Cassie, Supporter Engagement Manager of Kordyban Lodge says, “the funds help with operating costs, and they stay right here in Prince George and they do provide an incredible amount of support for residents of northern BC.”

It costs nearly $80,000 a month to run the lodge, and with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is only operating at half capacity.

$172,000 has been raised for the lodge since this event began in 2015.

“Climbing the cutbanks really helps improve people’s lives that are currently battling cancer,” adds Cassie.

This year, groups can sign up online to participate in the climb up the cutbanks of Prince George or donate directly to the Kordyban Lodge.
