Prince George dons a birthday hat, turns a century old

The City is celebrating its 100th Birthday today, marked with an occasion at City Hall earlier this morning.

Mayor Lyn Hall was on hand to unveil some photographs, which showcased a city that looked nothing like it does today:

“We have a picture of Prince George a hundred years ago and then there’s today’s shot, so its really interesting to see the transition that our city has taken”

Councillor Brian Skakun also weighed in on important buildings of note:

“We have so many great civic facilities, like the civic center and exploration place, all these things that have been built over the years to bring us to today. I think there has been lots of great moments over the years”

Almost a hundred others showed up on the steps of the hall, to celebrate with cake, friends, and remarkable Prince George facts.

The City has a number of events planned during 2015 to commemorate the anniversary, including this weekend – which will be full of activities with free admission to many civic facilities.
