Quesnel RCMP investigating attempted abduction of 11-year-old boy

An 11-year-old boy is safe after being grabbed by the neck and dragged by an unknown man when he was out walking with his parents yesterday (October 5) evening.

The boy stopped to rest while his family continued to walk ahead, on the River Walk Trail between the Quesnel River Bridge and the Lebourdais Park ball diamond, when the man ran at the boy.

The boy managed to fight off his attacker according to Quesnel RCMP.

The suspect is described as 5″9 with a slim build, wearing a ski mask, blue hoodie, white shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

“The man fled on foot toward the direction of Shepherd Avenue and Murphy Street.   The investigators believe that the suspect may have been captured on dashcam video, home surveillance, or may have caught the attention of witnesses,” says Seargent Richard Weseen.

Weseen says they are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
