Prince George breweries raise a glass for Canadian Beer Day

Today (October 7th) is Canadian Beer Day, and two Prince George breweries are reflecting on what craft beer means to the community.

“Prince George has really embraced the craft beer scene,” explained Bailey Hoefels Co-owner and Director of Trench Brewing, “and in turn, we and the other breweries in the city have really tried to give back to our community.”

Trench Brewing has created 21 jobs since it opened two and a half years ago and continues to make efforts in supporting the local economy.

“We try and buy local whenever we can and incorporate into our menu,” explained Hoefels.

Trench works closely with a number of other PG businesses such as October farms and Birch and Boar, their merchandise is also printed locally.

“We try to infuse the money that we receive back into the local economy,” noted Hoefels.

Just down the road from Trench Brewing, Crossroads Brewing and Distillery provides around 70 jobs.

“We are a community-based company,” explained Crystal Saur Front House Manager of Crossroads Brewing, “we hold a lot of community activities like our street parties to bring the community together.”

Saur noted, “we are locally owned and all of our beer is produced here.”
