Rotary Manor outbreak in Dawson Creek declared over

One COVID-19 long-term/assisted living outbreak has been declared over and another has been downgraded according to Northern Health.

Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek is now COVID-19 free, after reporting a total of 13 cases among residents and staff and two deaths.

The outbreak was declared in early November, and protocols were lifted for the remaining infected unit on Thursday.

Social visits can now resume for residents on the affected unit.

Visitors should contact the facility to arrange visits, and not go to the facility without these arrangements in place.

Meanwhile, the outbreak at the North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments in Fort St. John has been downgraded by Northern Health.

Outbreak protocols remain in place for just a single building on the premises.

To date, there have been 15 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with the outbreak; five of those cases remain active.

Sadly, one resident associated with the outbreak passed away in November.

NH Medical Health Officers have declared the outbreak exposure risk over for the complex’s Apartment Two building, as well as Apartments Three and Four — and downgraded the outbreak declaration to precautionary, for Apartment One until one more COVID-19 incubation period has passed.

All apartment residents in Apartment One are being asked to continue to self-monitor for symptoms as well as limit visitors, adhere to mask-wearing in public areas in the buildings and hallways, and reduce movement and interactions with others.

Following one more 14-day period during which Public Health will monitor for any new COVID-19 cases associated with the outbreak, it can be declared officially over.
