Province rolls out $2.5 billion to get BC “On the Move”

The BC Government is shifting $2.5 billion into improving the province’s roads, air, and sea travel.

Transportation Minister Todd Stone stopped in Prince George on his tour to speak to regional specifics of the “BC on the Move” plan, such as improvements headed airports like our own YXS.

“It’s called the BC Air-Access Program, it will have $8 million a year in it, $24 million over the first three years, the investments will be focused on key infrastructure, like rehabilitating and extending runways, terminal expansion, lighting, navigation equipment, and so-forth.”

Stone also says that the summer session will see legislative changes to the province’s initiative to educate drivers to use the left lane only for passing or turning left.

The 10-year plan also sees $200-million invested into the second phase of the Cariboo Connector along Highway 97, though he says shuttle-service along Highway 16 is “Not practical or viable.”
