City wide PG Salvation Army Food Drive underway this Saturday

All four Save-On locations in Prince George will be hosting a city-wide food drive for the Salvation Army tomorrow (Saturday, Jan 16th).

“We’ve gathered some $500 gift certificates, so there’s one from each location and when people donate and get a cash voucher at the till or if they donate a non-perishable food item, they will get a ballot to be entered to win the certificate,” explained David Mothus, event organizer.

One Wood Wheaton truck will be parked in front of every Save-On location in Prince George from 10 am to 5 pm to facilitate the food drive.

According to Mothus, January is a particularly hard time for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

“What I really hope to see is that we have to take the trucks away mid-day and empty them at the Salvation Army because they’re so full, so our goal is to do multiple trips,” explained Mothus.

The drive will be held at the following Save On Locations:

  • 555 Central St W
  • 1600 15th Ave #100
  • 5232 Domano Blvd
  • 3885 W Austin Rd W
