Installation of new Disc Golf course in the air at Hart Ski Hill

The Prince George Disc Golf Society is preparing to install a new 18-hole disc golf course at the Hart Ski Hill.

PG is already home to a 9-hole-course at Rainbow park that has been around for 12 years.

However,  John Bowes, a member of the Prince George Disc Society says the sport is growing rapidly in PG and the community needs more space for the growing demand.

“We decided that it was time to look into new locations for a bigger, full 18 hole course so we partnered with the Hart Ski Hill to develop a plan for the layout of the course,” Bowes explained.

He says the pandemic has done a lot for the popularity of the sport, as it is pushing people to spend more time outside.

“It’s a sport you can do with your family and friends outside and still maintain physical distancing, it’s low impact and using the course is completely free,” he added.

Once the partnership was formed, Bowes started fundraising for the project that he hopes will be up and running by this spring.

A GoFundMe page was created, and as of today (Saturday), has raised $960 of its $15,000 goal.

A number of local businesses have donated to the cause, as 14 baskets have already been donated.

However, Bowes says they are still short of their fundraising goal and will continue to accept donations.

“It is time for Prince George to grow and support its disc golf community by building a full 18 hole disc golf course,” reads the GoFundMe campaign.
