PG’s jobless mark drops to 5.9% in March

Prince George saw a gradual dip in its unemployment rate during March.

It came in at 5.9%, down a half a point from February where it was 6.4.

Stats Canada Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao spoke with MyPGNow.com.

“Just over 3,000 people were looking for work and a year ago there were just over 4,600. In terms of how many people are working, we had just over 51-thousand people at work in March.”

BC remained unchanged staying at 6.9% – however, the province added 35-thousand jobs on a month-over-month basis.

In Canada, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.5%, from 8.2% after 303-thousand jobs were added.
