Prince George’s Covid-19 case count lowers

The Prince George local health area has seen a decline in COVID-19 cases after seeing a rise in cases for a three-week period.

Only ten people were diagnosed with the virus from May 30 to June 5.

That’s compared to the 16 cases identified between May 23rd to 29th.

The BCCDC reports an average of 0.1 to 5.0 cases are being identified daily per every 100,000 people in the area.

Quesnel is also down, they saw 2 cases during this timeframe, compared to their previous count of 4.

Nechako saw no cases in their area, as case counts across the North continue to plummet.

Meanwhile, the cases in Peace River North area took a big dip, down to 20 cases from their previous 43.

Fort Nelson only saw 1 case between May 30 to June 5, which is an improvement from their 7 case count from the week prior.

Grizzly bear attack west of Fort Nelson leaves one with non-life-threatening injuries

The BC Conservation Officer Service says a grizzly bear attack near Fort Nelson left one man with non-life-threatening injuries.  According to a Facebook post from the Conservation Officer Service, the attack took place at 11:00 this morning near a remote, fly-in location approximately 110 kilometres west of Fort Nelson, where a group was working in the area. 

Final touches being made for Special Olympics BC Games

With a flag raising Monday, a Torch Run on Wednesday, an opening ceremony on Thursday, and competitions on Friday and Saturday, the Special Olympics BC Games are set to bring plenty of excitement to Prince George this week.
