Local police capture prohibited driver

An early morning traffic stop by Prince George RCMP led to the arrest of a prohibited driver.

On Tuesday (12:30 a.m.) police saw a vehicle going 43km/h in a 70km/h zone and attempted to stop the vehicle near Northwood Pulpmill Road on Highway 97 North.

The driver fled down a dead-end road but was found by mounties again.

The vehicle rammed through a metal gate, went into a large field, and the passenger fled on foot.

Police Dog Services caught the passenger, while the driver was found a short distance away, stuck on a hill.

The driver tried to spray police with bear spray.

Both parties were detained, later released, and have future court dates.
