Meryeta Odine of Prince George finished third in the women’s competition at the 2015 Speed Nation Snowboard Cross Nationals. The race was held at Big White near Kelowna. Gold went to Katie Anderson of Jaffray, B.C. followed by American Rosina Mancari.

–Three Prince George Cougars are among 56 WHL players listed in the final Central Scouting rankings for the 2015 NHL Draft.

Jansen Harkins is ranked 15th among North American skaters, which is up three spots from the mid-term rankings. Harkins is third among WHL ranked players.

Forward Brad Morrison is 124th among North American skaters and defenceman Tate Olson is 146th. The Draft will take place June 26-27 in Sunrise, Florida.

–The WHL Conference semi-finals begin Friday. In the West: Portland visits Everett and Victoria plays at Kelowna. In the East: Regina faces off in Brandon and Calgary visits Medicine Hat.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings are expected to name their 23rd head coach in team history during a media conference Friday at 9 a.m. at the PG Coliseum. Dave Dupas stepped down for family reasons after the Spruce Kings lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Meanwhile, the Spruce Kings welcome over 100 players to their Prospects Camp this weekend at the Coliseum. The top prospects will be given an invite to the team’s main training camp in August.

–The BCHL best of seven Fred Page Cup final will begin Friday in Penticton with the Vees against the Nanaimo Clippers. In the double round robin semi-finals, Penticton was 3-1, Nanaimo 2-1 and Chilliwack was eliminated with an 0-3 record.

–The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team will play exhibition games on the road this week. The T-wolves visit Trinity Western Friday and UBC Okanagan Saturday.

–The Prince George Judo Club hosts a regional tournament Saturday at the Northern Sport Center. Competition starts at 10 a.m.
