Prince George playing fields opening early

The early arrival of spring means city of Prince George sports fields are opening ahead of schedule.

“Our normal Spring opening for city playing fields is usually around May 1st.” Park Supervisor Shaun le Brun says “However due to the decent weather and the lack of snow we are deciding to open the fields up effective April 20th on Monday.”

He says the city’s turf care plan is similar to many homeowners; aerate and fertilize.

Despite the early opening date, le Brun is asking people to be careful during the first part of the season.

“Just turf in general as far as the City of Prince George is concerned; that goes for Connaught Hill and Fort George Park and any of the larger areas. We just ask people to use some common sense. If you are out on the grass and it’s wet; you can do damage.”

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
