The Transportation Safety Board has released new details on their investigation into the ill fated Carson Air Flight 66.
They say the dual prop cargo plane dropped a kilometre and a half in 20 seconds to it’s crash site as it passed over the North Shore Mountains.
Investigators say the scattered nature of the debris and lack of terrain damage is consistent with the flight breaking up in mid air.
The plane did not have flight data or cockpit voice recorders, leaving the Transportation Safety Board to depend on physical evidence to determine the cause.
The lack of data collection on smaller aircraft has been noted in the past; the TSB made a recommendation back in 2013 asking the government to encourage the use of the devices.
Investigators say they will be spending the weekend moving the wreckage to a facility for closer examination.
