Restricted Access Order issued by Lheidli T’enneh First Nation due to COVID-19

The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation has announced a Restricted Access Order for its Northside and Southside Subdivisions.

The Chief and Council felt the measure was needed to keep residents safe and limit the amount of traffic to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

A news release said the high number of cases of the virus in Prince George and the overload situation at UHNBC helped in the decision to limit access to these neighbourhoods to residents, essential staff, and approved contractors.

“The safety of our members, staff and visitors is our Number One priority at all times. With confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our community, the alarming number of cases in Prince George and the ongoing overload situation at the University Hospital of Northern BC, Council and Administration had no choice but to limit access to our Northside and Southside subdivisions,” said Chief Dolleen Logan.

“Non-residents will not be granted access and TANO Fuels in the Southside neighbourhood will remain closed.”

Chief Logan said the order will remain in place through the Thanksgiving Weekend and will be reassessed on October 12.

“We feel it is the community’s responsibility to help keep everyone safe and we owe it to each other to continue to practice COVID-19 safety protocols.”
