Pineview Hall hosting family friendly Halloween celebration

Halloween celebrations including a haunted house and pumpkin walk will be taking place at Pineview Hall on October 31.

Jodi Hawkins, Pineview Hall Administrator says the event will start at 4:00 pm, and the night will conclude with a fireworks display at 7:30.

“We always have a haunted house, we weren’t able to have that last year because of Covid, this year we did get approval for it. We’re having an outdoor concession and then new this year is our pumpkin walk,” she explained.

A walkway featuring Jack-O-Lanterns and decorations created by Pineview Elementary students will be available for participants to trick-or-treat at.

18 people have volunteered to work at different candy stands within the walkway for kids to trick-or-treat at.

Hawkins says the walkway will be located in the field behind the hall and safely distanced from any traffic and is available for kids of all ages.

“It’s really for everyone, the haunted house we try and make it just decorated spooky so that little kids can walk through and nobody will jump through and scare them or we can turn more lights on if they don’t want to come in,” she stated.

Only mask usage is required to participate in the pumpkin walk along with all outdoor celebrations but proof of vaccination will be required for entry to the haunted house.

Hawkins says events like this are very important in rural areas, and she was inspired by a similar event that takes place annually in Vanderhoof.

“We live in such a rural community that not a lot of people trick-or-treat here, they actually go to town and go to other neighborhoods, and so I grew up here and we never had trick-or-treaters growing up,” she added.

To view the fireworks display at the end of the night, participants can watch from the parking lot in their vehicle.
