Lots of interest in mobile technology in classrooms

There seems to be an appetite for having more mobile technology in classrooms.

A survey conducted by the district’s ad hoc committee on mobile technology shows there is an interest in having lap tops, tablets or phones for learning.

PGDTA Elementary Representative Cliff Waldie says there is also a hunger for choice in the school district.

“Even in the situation where they are saying where there was no technology or financial support at the district level, they were still very much in support of going in the direction of choice,” says Waldie, “now what that means in the end we don’t know but it was a very interesting to note.”

Waldie says privacy is one of the hurdles they need to get past to make mobile technology more accessible.

The ad hoc committee made a recommendation to the board about possibly putting together a pilot project for the board to consider.
