UHNBC’s odds of welcoming first baby of 2022 at 33.50: BCLC

The BC Lottery Corporation is taking bets on which BC Hospital will welcome the first baby of 2022.

“The New Year’s Baby of BC is always a fun one that people like to talk about,” says BCLC Spokesperson Matt Lee.

“It seems to be a story every January 1st among the media, and this is a new way for players to engage in the fun.”

BC Women’s Hospital is the odds-on favourite for this year at 4.00. According to BCLC, a successful $10 wager on BC Women’s Hospital would pay out $40.

The University Hospital of Northern BC’s odds for welcoming the first baby is listed at 33.50.

BC bettors have 23 hospitals to choose from, plus an option for ‘any other hospital’.
