CNC pushes back return to class, UNBC goes online for first week

The sudden surge of the Omicron Variant is changing plans for Prince George’s post-secondary schools.

The College of New Caledonia is delaying the general start of classes until Monday, January 10th.

Some programs, including the Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program, practical nursing, and trades apprenticeships will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, January 4th as scheduled with safety precautions in place.

The CNC campuses will be open on Tuesday, January 4th, and students will be able to access services at the campuses.

The college is asking students and staff to monitor their health everyday before going to the schools, and ask students not to come if they are sick.

The University of Northern BC is taking a different approach.

Their semester will begin as scheduled on January 5th, but all first classes of any course will be delivered online.

The latest information from UNBC says after the first class, many courses will remain in person, but some will temporarily shift to alternate delivery methods.
