“Ice Disco at the Oval” raising money for hospice

On Saturday, February 12th, the Prince George Ice Oval will look a little bit different than it does in the picture above.

Event Organizer Kyle Sampson, the PG Hospice Palliative Care Society, and the Oval are teaming up to host an “Ice Disco at the Oval” to raise money for hospice.

“It’s been a long winter and a lack of community events with the uncertainty of Omicron and the COVID-19 pandemic, and the restrictions around that,” said Sampson.

“We found we’ve been able to put this in relatively short order, the restrictions allow for an event of this nature, and it looks like the weather is going to allow for this as well.”

As of today (Saturday, February 5th), the Weather Network is forecasting a high of four degrees with a mix of sun and cloud.

Sampson added there will be a light system, food and drink by donation, games, prizes, and fireworks to end the night at 10:30.

He added people can donate to hospice ahead of the event, the fundraising goal is $20,000.
