Regional District of Fraser-Fort George approves 2022 budget

The 2022 Operating Budget and Five-Year Financial Plan has been approved by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

The district’s total expenditures for the 92 services it provides will cost $57.8 million this year. Of that, $20.6 million or 64%, will be funded through property taxation, about 2.67% more than in 2021. According to the district the rest will come from grants, user fees, and use of reserve funds.

The district noted some of 2022’s significant expenditures include Solid Waste Management ($23.1 million), 9-1-1 Emergency Response Services ($8 million), Protective Services ($7.3 million), and Recreation and Cultural Servives ($5 million).

The amount of taxes residents will pay per $100,000 has also gone down in each area according to the District:

  • Area A: $98.76 ($112.66 in 2021)
  • Area C: $107.92 ($124.07)
  • Area D: $116.93 ($141.73)
  • Area E: $132.74 ($151.67)
  • Area F: $125.31 ($141.25)
  • Area G: $93.44 ($105.57)
  • Area H: $110.51 ($124.59)
  • Prince George: $44.23 ($49.56)
  • Mackenzie: $51.88 ($57.52)
  • McBride: $348.64 ($381.91)
  • Valemount: $224.31 ($259.26)

However the district adds this may not result in a decrease on the tax bill, as the average, region-wide property assessment was 18.14%.
