Studio 2880 hosting exhibition featuring local artist

Studio 2880 will be featuring landscape paintings from a local artist this week.

The studio will be hosting an exhibition of paintings from Wendy Barteluk, showcasing her canoe trips.

“My partner and I are canoeists and riders, so we frequently explore trails and waterways in this part of the world,” Barteluk said.

“What we have all learned in the past few years is the importance of nature to our well-being.”

Barteluk added her landscape paintings are done from photos.

“When I put paint to canvas, I remember the moment I saw the light on the lake, the island, the pelicans lifting off, the sound of the canoe slipping through the water, the light through the trees and I strive to capture the moment.”

The opening show is on Thursday at 5:00 p.m., and will feature an artist talk at 5:30.
