The Tampa Bay Lightning put an 8-game home winning streak on the line when they host the Colorado Avalanche tonight (Wednesday 5:00 PT) in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Colorado leads the series 2-1.

Auston Matthews is the MVP of the NHL.

The 24-year-old Matthews, who scored 60 goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs, collected the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player and the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHLPA’s most outstanding player.

The Florida Panthers have hired Paul Maurice as their head coach, replacing interim coach Andrew Brunette.

The 55-year-old Maurice coached the Winnipeg Jets for nine years.

He is 4th in NHL history in terms of regular-season games coached (with 1,685).

 

Memorial Cup Junior Hockey: (Game 2 of the round-robin)

Shawinigan Cataractes  4  Edmonton Oil Kings  3

Shawinigan erased a 3-2 deficit by scoring a pair of third-period goals, just 78 seconds apart.

Dating back seven years, the WHL champions have now combined to lose their last 14 games at the Memorial Cup.

The standings in the four-team tournament are Saint John and Shawinigan 1-0, Edmonton and Hamilton 0-1.

Edmonton will play host Saint John today (3:00 PT).

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars will begin their 2022-23 WHL regular season on Friday, September 23rd when they host the Tri-City Americans.

The Cougars’ full schedule will be released at a later date.

The PG Cougars will play four preseason games, including one at CN Centre on September 17th against the Kamloops Blazers.

 

MLB:

Chicago White Sox  7  Toronto Blue Jays  6  (12 innings)

The (38-30) Blue Jays are 0-2 on a 6-game road trip that continues today (11:10 a.m. PT) against the (33-33) White Sox in Chicago.

The next PG Sr. Lacrosse game will be played tonight at 8:00 at Kin 1 as the PG Bandits battle Northland Nissan Assault.

Week 3 of the CFL season starts Thursday (4:30 PT) with (2-0) Saskatchewan visiting (0-2) Montreal.
