Brett Connolly placed on waivers, to be bought out by Chicago Blackhawks

Brett Connolly’s days in the Windy City are over.

The 30-year-old former PG Cougars star was placed on unconditional waivers today (Monday) for the purpose of a buyout by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Connolly was signed through next season but only appeared in nine games with the Blackhawks last season, posting one assist.

He added 17 goals and 35 points in 37 games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Connolly had his best success with the Washington Capitals, helping them capture the Stanley Cup in 2018.

In the summer of 2019, he signed a four-year, 14-million dollar contract with the Florida Panthers but was involved in a multi-player trade in April of 2021 that brought him to Chicago.
