3000 athletes, four days, six police appearances.
The RCMP are very happy with the atmosphere in Prince George that surrounded the BC Summer Games that were held over four days (July 21st-24th).
Superintendent Shaun Wright, Officer in Charge of the Prince George RCMP, said “the athletes, spectators, coaches and staff who came to Prince George were a great example of teamwork and community. We had very few complaints to police about incidents at the venues and everything was resolved peacefully when we did attend.”
The six incidents in question were two transient persons camping in venue locations and not leaving when asked, two drunk people, one report of theft that was quickly recovered, and a request to help keep peace with a group of parents angered by a disqualification.
Wright added “from a policing perspective, this was a highly successful event for Prince George.”
