Cougars start preseason on a winning note

The Prince George Cougars are 1-0 in the preseason after opening last night with a 4-2 win over the Vancouver Giants in Port Coquitlam.

A combination of Ty Young’s 22 saves and four different goal scorers finding the net propelled a young Cougars roster over the Giants.

The cats got out to an early 2-0 lead off goals from Terik Parascak and Ethan Samson.

Sammy May scored for Vancouver to send the game into intermission at 2-1.

Hudson Thornton would trade a goal with Mazden Leslie in the second period, and Carlin Dezainde found an empty net to secure the Cougars’ 4-2 victory.

The final shots were 24-24, PG was 1/4 on the powerplay and 4/4 penalty killing.

They will play tonight, again from Port Coquitlam, against the Victoria Royals.
