The (6-3) Spruce Kings play their second game at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack this afternoon (Thursday) at 4:00 against the (7-0) Surrey Eagles.

The (0-3-1) Vancouver Canucks conclude a season-opening five-game road trip when they visit the Minnesota Wild tonight (5:05 Pt).

The Canucks are the first team in NHL history to start the season with four consecutive losses after holding a multi-goal lead in each game.

WHL:

The (3-5) Prince George Cougars will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they play the (1-4-1-2) Vancouver Giants Friday night at 7:30 in Langley.

The Cougars also visit the (5-1-0-1) Kamloops Blazers on Saturday.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18)

The (4-2) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (4-3) Vancouver North West Hawks Saturday night at 6:15 in West Vancouver and Sunday at noon in North Vancouver.

The U18 Cougars are in third place out of nine teams and riding a 4-game winning streak.

The (1-6-1) U18 female Northern Capitals host the (0-8-1) Greater Vancouver Comets  Friday (6:45 p.m. Kin 1), Saturday (5:45 p.m. Kin 2), and Sunday, (8:30 a.m. Kin 2).

The Caps are 4th and the Comets last in the 5-team division.

American League

The Astros lead the best-of-seven American League Championship Series 1-0 with Game two tonight (4:37 PT) in Houston.

National League

San Diego Padres  8  Philadelphia Phillies  5

The best-of-7 National League Championship Series is tied 1-1 with Game three to be played Friday night (4:37) in Philadelphia.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves conclude their regular season in Canada West men’s soccer on the road this weekend.

They visit the (6-5-2) Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 7:00 and Sunday at noon in Abbotsford.

The (7-4-3) UNBC men are third out of seven teams in the Pacific Division and have clinched a playoff spot.

Michael Henman of the Timberwolves has a league-leading 18 goals.

Henman needs one goal to tie the Canada West single-season record, and two goals to break the all-time conference mark.

The (1-0) Raptors play their second game of the season Friday (4:30) in Brooklyn.

NFL: 

Week seven of the NFL season starts tonight (5:15) with the New Orleans Saints at the Arizona Cardinals.

Both teams are 2-4.

CFL: (Week 20)

Week 20 of the CFL season starts Friday (4:00 p.m.) with (4-12) Ottawa at (6-10) Hamilton followed by the (11-5) B.C. Lions at the (4-13) Edmonton Elks (6:30).

Edmonton has lost a league-record 16 straight home games.

The Lions are in second place in the West Division, two points ahead of the (10-6) Calgary Stampeders.

B.C. will play at Winnipeg on October 28th to close out its regular season.

The Stampeders’ final two games are a home-and-home with (6-10) Saskatchewan starting on Saturday (4 PM PT) in Regina and concluding on October 29th in Calgary.
